Testing for the respiratory illness coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and the associated SARS-CoV-2 virus can be done by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing, nucleic acid tests and ELISA antibody test kits. One study published in February 2020 claims that chest CT scans perform better than PCR tests.
